The tyrant is proud, and therein resides his doom. He is proud because he thinks of his strength has his own; thus he is in the clown role, as a mistaker of shadow for substance; it is his destiny to be tricked. The mythological hero, appearing from the darkness that is the source of the shapes of the day, brings a knowledge of the secret of the tyrant's doom. With a gesture as simple as the pressing of a button, he annihilates the impressive configuration. The hero-deed is a continuous shattering of the crystallizations of the moment. The cycle rolls: mythology focuses on the growing-point. Transformation, fluidity, not stubborn ponderosity, is the characteristic of the living God. Briefly: the ogre-tyrant is the champion of the prodigious fact, the hero the champion of the creative life.

Yet it Was Not

Give up learning, and put an end to your troubles.

When I use the terms "man" and "woman", I refer first and foremost to the masculine and feminine minds. Men generally possess masculine minds and women generally possess feminine minds. It is a generalisation, yes, and I am open to the possibility that there could be exceptions, but I think that the exceptions are in reality so rare that the generalisation can be thought of as a solid truth. The female, especially, embodies the feminine to a very high degree and so I have no qualms about interchanging the terms "woman" and "feminine mind" freely.

I am fully aware that this type of thinking clashes with the ethos of our times. Our age no longer believes in cut and dried truths. It assumes things are too complex for most generalizations to work and our knowledge too limited to establish anything of certainty. While this is perfectly true in most worldly issues, wherein the finite mind has to cope with an infinite number of factors, it nevertheless breaks down in matters of the spirit.

As far as wisdom is concerned, everything is black and white. For example, a person either understands ultimate reality or he does not. He either has an ego or he does not. He either has potential for spirituality or he does not. I put it to you that everything a woman does obstructs the growth of wisdom. This is no exaggeration. Truth and femininity are poles apart with an infinite space between them. For a woman to cast her gaze in the direction of truth requires her to turn away from everything that is womanly, and this is impossible for her. She cannot even conceive of doing it.

This is a harsh fact for women to face, especially for those few who have within themselves the genuine seeds of idealism. Nature has dealt a hard blow to the weaker sex. She has discriminated unfairly against women and there seems to be nothing at present we can do about it. By all accounts, women are destined to remain the happy, charming, mindless creatures they are.

For the first time in history, men and women are seriously exploring the possibilities of relationships based on separateness rather than togetherness. Instead of clinging to a rigid set of laws established by a jealous Father-God who will rant in fury if he is disobeyed, they are simply ignoring that ranting, walking away from it, and attempting to put their trust in the irrational. In other words, they are trying to live by the spirit.


Living by principles is not living your own life. It is easier to try to be better than you are than to be who you are. If you are trying to live by ideals, you are constantly plagued by a sense of unreality. Somewhere you think there must be some joy; it can't be all "must," "ought to," "have to." And when the crunch comes, you have to recognize the truth: you weren't there. Then the house of cards collapses.


The whole, however, had become more than the sum of its parts. The parts concentrate on the periods in the chrysalis when life as we have known it is over. No longer who we were, we know not who we may become. We experience ourselves as living mush, fearful of the journey down the birth canal. The whole has to do with the process of psychological pregnancy - the virgin forever a virgin, forever pregnant, forever open to possibilities.


Body work must be approached with the same respect and attentiveness that one gives to dreams. The body has a wisdom of its own. However slowly and circuitously that wisdom manifests, once it is experienced it is a foundation, a basis of knowing that gives confidence and total support to the ego. To reach its wisdom requires absolute concentration: dropping the mind into the body, breathing into whatever is ready to be released, and allowing the process of expression until the negative, dammed energy is out, making room for the positive energy, genuine Light, to flood in.
