Lyrics

Verse

You blew up a building with me in it
I was working as a janitor then
you chopped me up and fed me to your kids

remember

your vicious, younger son, cracked open my head

you took on, way too much
nobody deserves that many kids

maybe in 300 years, you'll admit my truth, and then I'll forgive you.

I blew up a building
with your favourite ones in it
I had nothing against janitors then
you chopped yourself up
read the news from the void

your vicious younger son
cracked open my head

you took on way too much
nobody deserves that many kids

maybe in 300 years, you'll admit my truth
and then I'll forgive you.

I have spent the last ten years studying victims
trying to figure out how it went wrong

I took on way too much...

Analysis

Will is the manner of men; willingness that of women. That is the law of the sexes - truly, a hard law for women. All of humanity is innocent of its existence; but women are doubly innocent. Who could have oil and kindness enough for them?

When young men speak in contempt of other young men, or even of his own father, consider the source of that young man's opinion...

Men appreciate, women depreciate. Plan accordingly.

My past is everything I failed to be.

For story and experience tell us that man grows old and women jealous; both would their little ends secure: he sighs for freedom, she for power. His wishes tend abroad to roam. And hers, to domineer at home.

Woman's dearest delight is to wound man's self-conceit, though man's dearest delight is to gratify hers.

Where woman reigns war rages.

Scars have the strange power to remind us that our past is real.

Then, my boy, beware of Daphne. Learn a lesson from the rat: What is cunning in the kitten May be cruel in the cat.

Those who feel they are victims will be most eager to make victims of others.

How communities are destroyed. Identify these poisonous ingredients in your life:

- Be a whisperer.

Proverbs 16:28: "A perverse man sows strife, And a whisperer separates the best of friends."

- Allow your tongue and the tongues of your family members to run unbridled.

James 3:5-8: "Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."

- Hold others to a higher standard than yourself.

Proverbs 11:9: "The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor."

- Assume the worst of others.

Psalm 41:7: "All who hate me whisper together about me; they imagine the worst for me."

- Listen to rumors against others.

Proverbs 17:4: "An evildoer gives heed to false lips; A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue."

- Repeat every rumor you hear.

Proverbs 17:9: "He who covers a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates friends."

Niobe claimed that her lineage was greater than that of Apollo's mother, Leto. She also bragged that, since she had born and raised a greater number of children, her life was more filled with blessings. And she might indeed have been the happiest of mothers, if only he had not boasted of it.

For the insult to their mother Leto, Apollo shot down Niobe's six sons, and Artemis likewise shot down her six daughters.

In revenge and in love, woman is more barbarous than man. (Friedrich Nietzsche)
